Acne/ cyst: I often see patients with cystic acne like raised tender spots on the scalp, mostly on the back of the head. The skin on the scalp is very thick so usually it is not red. Most of the time they resolve on there own. Moist warm compresses help. Some times they need an antibiotic and occasionally need to be removed. If they are getting worse then see a dermatologist.

See a DR: Most likely trichilemmomas. These may be multiple. Unless inflamed they do not cause much distress. They are removed by simple surgical proceedure. They are mostly related to genetic factors and are a type of benign cyst.
