Simplest: Occipital neuralgia is a not uncommon condition affecting the nerve in the occipital region of the scalp. This condition can be treated with simple steroid injections, or more invasively, nerve block or nerve lysis. Not really sure how "neck" injections would help occ. Neuralgia. The safest by far is the non-invasive approach of cranio-sacral massage that might also be worth a try.
