Has anyone done a lumbar microdiscectomy?

Yes: It is a very common performed procedure for lumbar disc herniation pathology. Most patients with radiculopathic pain from disc herniation do very well in my experience.

Yes: Disc herniations are very common. Most get better without surgery. About 10% go onto having surgery with a 90% successful outcome expected.
