See comments: In my experience, about 25-30% of patients are unable to tolerate drug due to nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhea. Some flushing issues, but less frequent. However, there were 4 reports of an infection called PML, in Germany, where drug was used for psoriasis, but none so far, in MS patients. Short duration of action requires twice daily dosing, and this may result in drug failure if med is missed

Dimethyl fumarate: The answer depends on what is considered a serious side effect. It is pretty safe. Blood count monitoring is important with this medicine. Most side effects are benign with this medicine. http://www.tecfiderahcp.com/clinical-overview/safety-tolerability.html
