Most probably: The routine test(sma etc) usually test for sugar, if elevated should be followed up with hga1c test.

Usally: Usually a basic blood chemistry test will get at least random sugar. Ask your doc what they got.

Yes : Routine blood tests always include glucose (blood sugar) ; are generally done when fasting. If you have diabetes you'll have an elevated fasting sugar. If that is so then further tests like glycohemoglobin are done to evaluate. If you have a normal fasting blood sugar then it's safe to say you don't have diabetes (though if it's at the high end of the normal range then you could be pre-diabetic).
