A member asked:

Was told spine has holes and mine on left side are starting to close (means?) i have right side hip pain could it all be related? mri on lower spine.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Degenerative disease: The "holes" your doc referred to are probably the foramen, or spaces that the nerves travel through to get out of the spine on the way to muscles, skin, etc. Closing of the holes is "stenosis, " or pinching of the nerves leading to leg pain, tingling, abnormal sensations, etc. Stenosis is often related to degenerative disease (arthritis) which can also cause pain in the back of the hip or thigh.
