All physical : Activity that helps to burn calories can help with weight loss. However, you must insure that calories burned exceed calories consumed. A combination of cardio workouts and weight training can be optimal.

Yes!: Of course it has to be combined with a healthy diet for wt loss to occur! If you have never done any martial arts before, then I would recommend starting off with boxing/kickboxing, then adding jiu jitsu later on. After that, you could start MMA training if you wanted to combine the two. Take it slow, and look for a school that has both men and women or women only classes.
