No: Hi. No, it will not if metformin is all you're taking. If you're using metformin WITH insulin or a sulfonylurea (glimepiride, glipizide, or glyburide), then you can go low, but it's not the metformin doing it. Good luck!

Metformin: Dose not cause hypoglycemia! What you eat does. Too much sugar or starch may cause to rapid a rise in insulin, which may cause this. Sulfonoureas do cause hypoglycemia!
