Take your time: Family of origin or present? But in either case - if they don't know that something serious has been making your life difficult, they may not be close enough to you for this to be an immediate concern. You'll have a big enough task getting well (with the help of your therapist). Do that and feel proud. Your therapist can help you decide if, when and how to tell people about it. Best wishes - ok?

Schizophrenia: If you are really struggling with this - consider discussing your approach with your therapist. Telling your family in a session with your therapist or your psychiatrist is also a possible option.
