Helplessness is a: Horrible feeling. Sometimes we must take a break and review our situation, determine what we can't do and what we can do, and then do what we can so we don't feel so helpless. This puts our efforts where they count and gives a sense of accomplishment, if social problems are overwhelming seek guidance from a professional. We all need help sometimes. Desensitization: Start regularly socializing with small, and i mean small groups of people you know personally in a variety of social situations, and slowly increase the number of friends. Then, slowly have your friends invite people you may not know personally, just one or two to start with, and increase the numbers of known and unknown people over time. Should the anxiety spike, stick with smaller mixed groups
