A member asked:

What are the general indications used to determine if a child gets a chest x-ray when she is sick?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Several: The primary indications i would use include abnormal breath sounds on exam, unexplained fever & breathing rate faster than explained by fever alone. Other indicators such as pain in areas of the chest , back or abdominal may suggest a pneumonia.
