No: No, the vaporub will have no affect on children getting sick. Kids (and adults) will get sick if they catch a virus or come down with a bacterial infection.

No: But the vaporub may result in significant nasal congestion by itself. I consider the stuff an air pollutant & never recommend it.This old treatment may make you feel good about doing something but I have as yet to see a case where it really helped a child.It needs to go away like mustard poltaces and cupping treatments.
