Depends: It depends on where they are and their size. In general, the body disolves these clot or reduce their sizes so they do not become serious even of they "move". The chance of them dislodging exist even on blood thinners. However, blood thinners are the best we have to treat them nowadays. Filters are not indicated unless the person can not take blood thinners as they have their own complications..
