A member asked:

Can someone tell me how long will dry socket take to set in if i lose my blood clot?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

About 3 days: Dry socket usually becomes symptomatic approximately 3 days post-extraction. Chances of a dry socket are based on habits (smoking), the management of the surgical site, and which tooth was removed (dry socket is incredibly rare on extraction of upper teeth, most common for lower molars). See your dentist immediately if you suspect a dry socket so that a sedative dressing can be applied.
