Weakness: Obviously you need to speak w/ your surgeon who knows your case , anatomy and other issues.Total shoulder arthroplasty involves removing bone and arthritic cartilage and replacing these w/ artificial components that are either 'press- fitted'into your bone or cemented(usually a combination of both).Swelling or pressure from retraction of nerves is common and usually temporary ( mc nerve).Gl!

Musculocutaneous n.: The musculocutaneous nerve provides the nerve supply to the biceps muscle. If this was stretched and temporarily "stunned' during the shoulder replacement, this can explain the symptoms. The skin sensation from the elbow to the thumb comes from the "lateral cutaneous nerve of the forearm". This nerve is an extension of the musculocutaneous nerve, so this makes sense too.
