Please explain why is it bad to take statins when you have liver disease?

Statins: One of the side effects of statins can be liver enzyme abnormalities and rarely liver damage. If you already have liver disease, taking a drug with the potential to cause liver problems isn't a great idea.

Risk versus benefit: Many medications, including statins, cause a very small percentage of people to develop liver injury which is generally mild but enough to concern physicians. It's a matter of weighing what's best for a person overall in a world in which no one can be certain of outcomes and much of medical practice is driven by fear of legal liability.
