Nothing: Having clicking/popping symptoms only does not indicate any need for surgery. You may want to consider a nighttime splint just to keep the TMJ stable.

Popping jaw: See a dentist soon. You may be developing a disorder of the jaw joint, or if you grind your teeth- you may need a nightguard.

Nothing, probably: Nothing. An asymptomatic popping joint requires no treatment. 3 exceptions 1) if the popping is getting louder or is locking, suggesting the disorder is advancing, or 2) if it becomes painful, or 3) if you also clench or grind. If any of the 3 apply - see a TMj specialist.
