Marathon Training: If you are between seasons, you should only run 3 days per week. Make the two shorter runs during the week and a longer run on the weekend. Make the shorter runs total to the distance run in the longer run. For Example, if your long run is 12 miles on Saturday, make the two shorter runs equal to 12 miles. Try to build up the long runs up to one 20 miler, increasing 2 miles per week. Dr Rich Blake
