It varies: Swelling after carpal tunnel surgery varies. I have seen some patients develop very little swelling after the procedure, while others have a significant amount. In terms of duration, swelling decreases slowly over time, completely resolving within 6-8 weeks. Significant swelling, redness or increasing pain at any point after carpal tunnel syndrome should be reported to your surgeon immediately.

About 2 weeks: It takes about two weeks for the incision to heal and swelling is common during this time. Once the wound is healed scar message helps to reduce residual swelling. Most people are doing quite well by 4-6 weeks post-op.
