I had open carpal tunnel surgery october 21st and stitches removed on november 5th the top lay of skin is open. no leakage no redness so is this okay?

Get it checked: If you have opening of the wound after a surgery please call your doc and get it checked. It's so hard to tell what's happening in a forum like this. Be safe.

Often the top layer: Of skin cracks peels and breaks a bit. Especially the thick palm skin . Ask your surgeon if they object to using cream or lotion.

No need to worry.: It is common for the dried skin edges to look as if the wound is open but below that usually the incision line is closed. Usually at this stage i tell my patients to start using a scar care cream with sunblock. If, in the unlikely event of a wound not having seled up or an infection then a topical antibiotic with bandaid is used for a few days. See your hand surgeon if you have any concerns.
