3 months: Usually, patients can experience pain and swelling at the base of the hand for approximately 3 months following surgery, though sometimes these symptoms take 6 months to dissipate completely.

Ten days or so: Should be resolved by 10-14 days. Elevation of the operated hand above the heart will hasten the resolution of swelling.

Just time: Hand swelling is common after a carpal tunnel release. Take it easy on the hand for a few weeks and the swelling should resolve. I tell my patients to give the hand a chance to heal.
