Possibly: Anxiety and depression may have a genetic component. However, because possible contributing factors may be shared by family members (all exposed to the same stresses - financial, health etc.), it is difficult to determine the genetic contribution to psychiatric illness vs the environmental component. There is growing evidence that some genes may contribute and may be inherited.

Genes: yes: Yes, both anxiety and depression tend to run in families. However, this only increases the chance of having these problems, it's not a sure thing. (and lack of family history is no guarantee against having them either.) having anxiety when overloaded at work might be normal... It depends on the severity, how long it lasts, etc. If it's a problem, consider seeing a mental health professional.
