A member asked:

I need dental scaling\root planning but i'm afraid of the pain afterwards, what should i expect? is this something just regular tylenol (acetaminophen) can handle?

Pain not an issue: Scaling causes minimal or usually no discomfort.

Minor discomfort.: You may feel minor discomfort from the injection or sensitivity to hot/cold liquids after scaling ; root planing. Otc tylenol (acetaminophen) or Ibuprofen is usually enough to tide you over; the discomfort should disappear over a short time.
