Possible TMD: Most people are not aware of the major connection between headaches and their jaw, teeth and bite. Clenching and grinding while sleeping affect muscles and the TMJ (jaw joint). The mechanism for this is a bite imbalance that is more prevalent at night. This imbalance triggers the contraction of jaw muscles causing pain in many areas. A qualified dentist in this area can diagnose and treat you.

Headaches: If you are grinding or clenching your teeth, that means that the muscles that close your jaw, and support your head on top of your spine , are working overtime and are in spasm. This means they are contracting, which is likely causing your pain. If an md hasn't found any other cause, see a dentist trained in treating tmj.
