New crown: This would need to be evaluated and answered by the dentist who made the crown. It sounds like you have food impaction from an open or light contact between the two teeth. I can only give you some basic possibilities. You might have to floss better and the space may close; the adjacent tooth might require a restoration to close the space or yes-the crown might have to be redone. See your dentist.

Yes may take time: Sometimes if the crown extends below the gum, the gum can be abraided in the process of preparing the tooth. It may take a few months for the gum to grow back. However, if the distance from the bottom of the contact between the two teeth to the top of the bone is greater than 5.5mm the tissue will not fill back in half the time. 5mm or less and it fills in 80 percent of the time.
