Bladder biopsy : I can think of only one common reason to perform a bladder biopsy on a 21-year-old female. If they are searching for causes of urgency , frequency and pelvic pain they may be trying to rule out interstitial cystitis. Bladder biopsies can sometimes help with make this diagnosis. I, however have always performed these in conjunction with hydrodistention of the bladder under general or IV sedation.
