It depends: It depends on a lot of factors. For a simple benign ovarian cyst, labs are required to issue a report within 48 hours of receiving the specimen. That isn't from the time of your surgery, it's from the time it arrives at the lab. If there is something more complicated going on, and the pathologist needs to rule out cancer with special stains, it might take longer.
