Complicated question: Malpractice actions can often be found by checking with your state medical board. For elective cosmetic surgery, your comfort with your surgeon is more important than "stats, " as it is impossible to apply statistics to an individual patient. Do your homework, see a number of different board certified surgeons, and be completely comfortable with all your questions answered before proceeding.

Doctor's stats: More importantly, ensure that your surgeon is board-certified in a society recognized by the american board of medical specialties (abms). You can also check your state's medical malpractice database. The best advice usually comes from a friend who has had experience with that surgeon. It is difficult to completely trust online reviews or other marketing.
