Depends: Ice is good on acute injuries to decrease the inflammation, like when an athlete sprains an ankle. Heat promotes blood flow to the area in order to help healing. Depending on the cause of your calf swelling will dictate which would be more helpful. Many times if both calfs are swelling it can be from decreased venous return and therefore leg elevation, and compressive stockings can help.
