A member asked:

Can i safely ignore unilateral calf pain (1 week+) with light bruising after normal d-dimer or should i pursue an ultrasound? no heat or swelling.

DVT: Unlikely to be a clot given a normal D dimer. DVT are not usually associated with bruising and most calf pain is not DVT.

NoRhymerForD-Dimer: What caused the pain? A strain or a contusion? Do you remember? A normal D-Dimer is reassuring, but no test is 100% accurate or test result 100% certain. There are certain risk factors I'm sure your doctor knows about (like smoking with birth control pills, certain blood clotting problems, etc etc). If that pain is still there in a week or so, especially if the calf swells, get it checked again!
