Crohn's Disease: Narcotics, like any medications, have side effects and they are individually specific to you most of the time. Narcotics can cause moodiness or irritability. Approach your physician, and inquire about the use of neuropathic pain medications which may eliminate or decrease your opioid need.

Crohn's pain: At age 25, you shouldn't have to be taking long term narcotics to treat Crohn's pain. If your Crohn's is causing pain, you may need better control of your disease. If you have post-inflammatory IBS pain, you may benefit more from non-narcotic agents like an SSRI.
