No: It is not normal for you jaws or TMJ to pop when opening after wisdom tooth surgery. In order to remove wisdom teeth, the mouth is usually opened and held open widely, which may produce some irritation to the tmjs. For most patients, the popping usually resolves over a brief period of time following surgery. If it persists and you have pain, you may want to contact your dentist or surgeon.
