A member asked:

Can an hiv test detect the virus if an individual just recently experienced seroconversion?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

HIV test: The HIV test to which you seem to be referring measures antibody response to the virus. You can also estimate the numbers of virus per unit volume of blood by determining the amount of viral nucleic acid in a specimen using PCR techniques. Seroconversion means that the individual has changed from antibody negative to positive.
