There is concern that having hepatitis C virus may extend the time to conclusive HIV antibody testing. However, this is rare and manily when HIV and HCV are acquired simultaneously. It also rarely if ever affects the antigen-antibody (AgAb, 4th generation) HIV blood tests. There is no effect at all with other kinds of hepatitis. Negative HIV tests at 6-12 months are always 100% conclusive.
