Hard to say: I can tell you it doesn't make it any better for sure. Whether it contributes to its elevation, it's hard to tell. Most cholesterol is genetically predetermined, but certain foods can elevate it as well. Mountain dew has lots of carbohydrates, but has no fat. Excessive consumption of carbohydrates is known to promote obesity by conversion of carbohydrates into fats. So, indirectly it can raise it.
