I would encourage: You to talk to your parents about this. Getting the input of the anesthesiologist is always important. Please ensure that you also tell your ear/ nose/throat surgeon that you are smoking cannabis prior to a scheduled surgery.

You'll get stoned: If you smoke marijuana a week before a tonsillectomy you will get stoned. There are few known interactions between marijuana ; pharmaceuticals, esp. Those likley to be used around the time of your surgery ; there are no significant levels in your body a week after smoking. However, i caution against regular marijuana use by 17 yo's- there's evidence that regular use can lower iq in those under 18!
