It : It is important that you observe a healthy lifestyle prior to undergoing surgery. Marijuana may affect your respiratory status as well as your tolerance to pain and sedation medication. Also, due to the smoking, your circulation and wound healing can be affected. Do report this habit to your surgeon.

What kind of surgery: Generally "social" use of marijuana is not going to cause any difficulties. Heavy marijuana smokers can get lung problems just as cigarette smokers do, and if you are having general anesthesia, that might make a difference. It should not cause any problems in general with either surgery or anesthesia in lower-dose smokers.
