Internal Medicine 30 years experience
D dimer: It measures part of blood break up fragments .It may increase in blood clots, hematomas, pregnancy, liver diseases. D dimer less than 250 has very high negative predictive value for pe. Value of 260 will require clinical correlation and possible further test.
