Dr. Heidi Fowler answered

Specializes in Psychiatry

Recommend : Evaluation by a sleep medicine specialist. That provider will determine what studies are warranted. A polysomnogram is often recommended. Take care.

See below: Agree with dr. Fowler. Sleep paralysis, if often, usually indicates disruption of sleep and it can point to an underlying medical issue such as sleep apnea or narcolepsy. It is recommended you consult a sleep medicine specialist to discern if this is the case, especially if excessive daytime sleepiness is present. Try to consolidate ; regularize your sleep. Hope that helps!
