Although most likely these episodes represent benign myoclonus, it is possible that you have Paroxysmal Limb Movements in Sleep, also termed "nocturnal myoclonus". Another possible but less likely condition would be nocturnal epileptic episodes. An overnight sleep study should provide a diagnosis, and point the way to control of your problem.
