A member asked:

Can you tell me how could a pulmonologist help a smoker to stop smoking?

No specialist needed: If you have a breathing problem, seeing a doctor or lung specialist (pulmonologist) is a good idea. To quit smoking, you want to get the best treatments, but don't necessarily need a specialist. Success increases with coaching and skill-building - get it free in the U.S. Calling 800-quit now. Medications including nicotine patch/gum/lozenge help with cravings. See a doc for other rx to help.

Cold turkey.: As far as quitting without any nicotine replacement, the cold turkey method is great. But plan it ahead of time. Pick a quit date in advance, maybe a meaningful date like a birthday or holiday, and gather people who are aware of your attempt that you can call upon for moral support if you start to falter. Good luck!! You smoke so little, should be pretty straight forward.
