2-4 months, and No: Usually the clots in your lungs dissolve over a period of months. Once this has occurred, you should feel pretty normal. Recovery from DVT and the leg swelling that goes along with it is variable. Sometimes people end up with long term swelling, lasting years. Some folks have little or no swelling after...Your pmd can take care of this problem usually. Heme doc good when cause of clots unclear.

Variable: Recovery from the pe's can take anywhere from a few days to several months. There isn't really anything that speeds recovery in terms of shortness of breath; the main goal of therapy is preventing another pe by using an anticoagulant drug. Unless you are experiencing deterioration, seeing a pulmonologist is unlikely to change your course.
