Could you describe the gland and hormone dysfunction that causes type 2 diabetes?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cause of T2DM: It starts with Insulin resistance , esp in muscle and liver. Ir is in part genetic, but worsened by obesity and sedentary lifestyle. Initially, you make more Insulin to compensate for the ir. But in time, your pancreatic b-cells can no longer keep pace with the ir, and your glucose elevates. So the dysfunction is Insulin resistance plus b-cell dysfunction.
