A member asked:

What hormones from the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, and possibly thyroid cause calcitonin to be released?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Calcitonin: Calcitonin is not affected significantly by any of these. Calcitonin does not do much of anything in humans. When someone has a thyroidectomy, we don't give back calcitonin.
