Not necessarily: It depends on what your viewpoint is. Some insurance companies prefer that the psychiatrist limit his/her interventions to prescription writing only -- even if the patient actually needs psychotherapy too. I know many psychiatrists who provide psychotherapy as a primary mode of treatment, even if the patient is also receiving some medications. Personally, i like working with the whole patient..
