A member asked:

When i was a child, i was diagnosed as having nearsightedness, cause of my eye problem, now i am hearing i have keratoconus, are these two related?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Nearsightedness is extremely common, requiring eyeglass or contact lens correction. But it does not cause keratoconus. However, keratoconus almost always causes nearsightedness along with visual distortion as it advances.
