No: Beta thalassemia is a disorder of hemoglobin. Numerous different mutations can result in altered hemoglobin. In beta thal major, there are two abnormal "beta" genes. In hg e disease due to a specific mutation in the beta chain. In hbe/beta thal, one of the altered genes is hbe and the other is in hbb. Hbe/beta thall can be very variable.

Not the same.: Hemoglobin e is found in the asian population frequently and may be seen with thal trait. Thal major is a serious problem requiring much intervention, including transfusions and frequently splenectomy. Your doctor should be your guiding you. Pregnancy needs to be discussed with your doctor.
