Complicated: A leak after a tracheoesophageal fistula repair is not the end of the world and is not the same as an operation that didn't work. Ask your surgeon to explain exactly what happened, and what he thinks will happen. Is there a chance it will heal? Is another operation necessary? Has he seen this happen before? Probably, a good outcomes is still possible.
