?infection: If this drainage is pus rather than clear mucus, an infection may be present that requires treatment. The rectal surgeon should evaluate, treat and followup on this. In the meantime try warm wet applications and then keep the area clean and dry except for an antibiotic ointment on some gauze until you see your surgeon.
