Can omnicef (cefdinir) work for a uti? if so, how long does it take for it to clear the infection?

Omnicef (cefdinir): This oral cephalosporin antibiotic can be used to treat UTI depending upon the causative organism and its sensitivities. For uncomplicated cystitis a week should be an adequate duration of therapy.

It may: Certain antibiotics are more specific for the urinary tract than omnicef, (cefdinir) but it may work if the bacteria causing your UTI is sensitive to it. A urinalysis with reflex c;s would determine what the bacteria is and what antibiotics are sensitive to it. Most commonly, you should start feeling better in a few days. Best wishes.
